Working Students Program
|
|
Our working student program allows riders to perform farm chores in exchange for lessons, training, and sometimes discounted board. Duties include feeding, mucking stalls, grooming, and other general maintenance. By participating in our program, riders are given the opportunity to learn responsibility, self-confidence, and dedication, as well as other areas of the equine industry. Some of the additional topics we cover include: |
|
Former WS Holly Kinder learning
to ground drive |
| Barn Management | Breeding |
| Feeds & Forages | Mare & Foal Care |
| Breaking & Training | Show Judging |
| Client-Trainer Relations | Ethics in training & selling |
Students can also be eligible for
additional riding time & showing of sale horses.
Please note that opportunities to teach lessons are not part of our
working student program.
Eligibility: Prospective students must be dependable, hard working, honest, and have reliable transportation. You will be required to fill out an application as well as interview for any available positions. Some experience with horses is preferred; spots for beginner riders are rare. The minimum age requirement is 18, although we have taken younger riders that are very ambitious.
If you are under 18, your parents will have to sign off that they allow you to work and that they understand their responsibility as the method of transportation.
