Frequently Asked Questions.

Do you offer pasture or partial board?  To preserve healthy pastures and maintain consistency in the care of our clients horses, we do not offer pasture or partial board.

What type of riding do you teach?  We teach the English style riding of Hunters and Jumpers. What does all that mean?  Hunters simulates how you would ride & jump if you were on a fox hunt; Jumpers is a timed event over fences. For those of you still unsure, our saddles do not have a horn in the front and we always ride with two hands on the reins.

Do I need my own horse to take lessons? Absolutely not!  We have schooling horses that we match to your riding experience to ensure a safe and productive ride.

Can my son/daughter come out for a "test" ride before enrolling in your program? Because of liability reasons, we can only offer actual lessons to new students.  However, you may sign up for a single lesson to determine if your child is truly interested in riding before making a weekly commitment.  Adults and advanced riders can also sign up for a single lesson to try out our program as well.

What equipment is needed to start lessons?  You will need long pants (jeans or riding pants), hard soled boots that cover your ankle with a minimum 1" heel (no cowboy boots please), and a riding helmet.  Although we do have a few available for use, we recommend purchasing your own helmet to ensure proper fit.

My child has a bike helmet; won't that work as a riding helmet?  NO!  Bike helmets are designed for sideway falls and do not properly cover the back of the head.  Only ASTM-approved helmets are acceptable for our lessons.

Can my child come out on days other than their lesson day to learn horsemanship outside the ring?  Yes! We encourage our students to learn more than just riding;  however, we are NOT providing free babysitting services.  Your child will be expected to perform farm chores in exchange for their additional education. Advanced notice is required and you will need to provide any necessary food or beverages.

Do you offer Summer Camp? Due to our extensive show schedule (and the demands of a toddler!) we are not offering summer camp at this time.

Do you offer trail rides/hourly rides?  NO!  We are a show and training facility that emphasizes learning to ride properly and effectively in our lesson program.  For the safety of our horses, we require students to be enrolled in weekly lessons.

What about pony rides or birthday parties? NO!  We have quality show ponies and horses that are trained for competition.  Not all of them are suitable for young children or the high activity levels associated with birthday parties.
